REPORT
Although not part of our usual fixture list, we took the opportunity to meet Altrincham Kersal as some of our lads play at school with five of their team. Like many of the Cheshire clubs, they are blessed with a healthy squad size, so were pleased to travel with 21 to compete with their 24 lads.
The game got off to fantastic start as Harvey received the ball from the restart, and defying his number 1 shirt, ran ¾ of the pitch to give us our first try in the opening minute. They responded a couple of minutes later levelling it 7-7.
Then Eccles started to show the power of our backs as we got three well run tries from Henry, Louis and Sam to give us a 24-7 lead at half time.
In the second half Harvey showed the forwards could still take ball over the line to make it 31-7. We then experimented a little with our positions which allowed AK to grab two quick tries, before Henry went over again to leave things 36-21.
A great away result for the U16s against quality opposition. AK want to make us an annual fixture and are keen to travel to Eccles later in the season.
Congratulations to newcomers Josh Wagstaffe and Tom Anderton on their first Eccles match.
Match Captain: Sam
