Thank you to all the club members who took the time to respond to our proposal. The clear majority of votes were in favour of the proposal and therefore we will continue on that basis. To clarify what this means:

  • There will be no AGM in early June, as there would be under normal circumstances.
  • The Club Officers and Committee Members listed below will remain in post for now and throughout the 2020/21 season, to ensure the club is still run to the best of our ability, and ready to re-open as soon as it is able to, pending Government and RFU guidance.
    • Mark Dutton - President

      Paul Thorpe - Chairman

      Mark Greenhalgh - Hon. Secretary

      Mike Bateman - Hon. Treasurer

Heather Thorpe - Assistant Secretary & Safeguarding Officer

Chris Gaffey - Communications & Sponsorship Officer

Don Edmondson - RFU County Representative, Fixtures & Referee Secretary

Mark Baines - DofE Award Chair

Paul Fleming - Mini & Juniors Chair

Dave Nicholls - Social Events Chair

Andy Brunt - Grounds & Buildings Manager

  • In addition, the existing Senior Captains (James Wright for men, Siobhan Mullen for women) will remain in post and act as player representatives (along with additional players, as they see fit) until such a time that the election of new captains would be meaningful.
  • The remaining responsibilities of the AGM (sign off of previous AGM minutes, reports from Club Officers, presentation of financial statements, election of Senior Captains, election of any other committee members, consideration of proposed motions, AOB) will be postponed until a later date.
  • Our Club Rules state that the AGM must be held no later than the 31st July of each year. If we are still unable to hold a traditional meeting by that point we will explore other alternatives (such as a virtual meeting via Zoom or similar) but this is considered undesirable at this time. As per the Club Rules, all members will be notified of our plans at least two weeks in advance of the meeting, at which time a deadline for "motions to be considered" will also be set.
  • Should you have any questions about any of this process you can contact Club Secretary Mark Greenhalgh at members@ecclesrfc.org.uk.

I hope you are all in good health, and we can reconvene at the club soon.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Greenhalgh

on behalf of the Eccles RFC Committee.
