Congratulations to Aimee Wallace on signing for Sale Sharks Women.
Commenting on the news James Wright said "Aimee played at Eccles RFC from U13s and is another product of our successful 'HomeGrown' youth section, developing her skills and coming through the Eccles ranks alongside Tysh Harper (who is now at Loughbrough Lighting and made her England debut in February). Aimee graduated to become a crucial part of the Eccles Ladies team at a young age and when she departed to Sale we had great hopes for her."
On her recruitment Aimee said “Joining Sale Sharks Women is not only a huge opportunity but also a new challenge for me. I’m excited to be surrounded by high class players, staff and facilities to see where I can push myself as a player.”
Joining Aimee at the Sharks will be Scottish International scrum-half Mhairi Grieve who played for Eccles Ladies in the Championship North 2016/17 season. A supremely talented half-back both at 9 and 10, Mhari's work ethic and devotion to her craft was sure to see her playing at the highest level. Mhari has represented Scotland Women 18 times to date and has been playing her trade in Tyrrells Premier 15s at Firwood Waterloo Ladies for the past three seasons.
All of us at Eccles RFC wish our former players Aimee, Mhari, Kaite and Alicia the very best of luck in this next step of their careers with Sale Sharks, who are entering a new era for women’s rugby with the confirmation of thier place in the 2020-23 Premier 15s competition. The Sharks are assembling an exciting squad of local and international talent and with their high performance training centre at Carrington they intend to accelerate the development of Women’s & Girls Rugby in the North West.
Eccles established its Ladies section back in 1997, our centenary year. For more information on Girls and Women’s Rugby at Eccles RFC and how you can play a part, please contact Ladies Head Coach James Wright jamesgwright2@gmail.com
