Many of our members will remember Bill Lowe who joined Eccles RFC in 1948 as an 18 year old (the year the club moved to Gorton Street) and for many years served on the club committee and was the club County Representative and a member of the County Cup Committee.
Bill sadly passed away in February 2020 and the COVID restrictions in place at the time prevented a gathering at the club in his honour. Bill's family members are located around the world and came together at the club last Tuesday 1st August for a small memorial service and scattering of ashes, which was attended by senior club members, former team mates and colleagues from the County RFU.
Bill’s ashes were scattered on the first team pitch and, at the request of Pauline and family, some were added to the mortar in the mixer so Bill, who once had a cement business, would continue to be a part of the club for years to come.
