This Christmas, the CHRISTOPHER TICKLE 10th Anniversary Charity Fund Raising Memorial Match will take place on Saturday 28th December, 2pm Kick off. Participation is £10 which includes food and a donation to charity. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcomed. (Colts must be aged 17 or over with 'RFU permission to play adults' in place - don't assume, check first with Annie Colts Manager). If you'd like to play please contact Dave Nicholls 07867 724264 or James Wright 07791 227616.

Supporters entry is free, there will be a charity bucket on the touchline and all donations are appreciated. After the game in the clubhouse a quiz and quick bingo are planned. Sailor Sam and Mr Spoons have been invited. We hope for a good day of fund raising and a good turnout.

For new club members unware of the significance of this event, Christopher lost his life in tragic circumstances when he suffered a severe neck injury whilst playing for Eccles RFC in 2009. Chris was a popular 23 year old with a great love of sports, an infectious sense of humour and a willingness to help others who was about to begin studies at Salford University.

In March 2010 Christopher was posthumously awarded his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award by HRH Prince Phillip. As a tribute to Christopher, Eccles RFC became the first rugby club in the country to establish its own DofE awards programme in 2011 and continues to honour his memory each year with its 'Club Person of the Year Award' and fundraising activities in aid of spinal injuries research.

UPDATE:

Many thanks to all who 'played' or 'supported' at Saturday's 10th Anniversary Christopher Tickle Memorial game. Through your participation and generous donations we raised just over £1,000 (our best ever total) for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Great to see Colts, New and Old players all on the pitch together. Thanks to Referee Nick, our food and drinks volunteers and to Dave Nic for his tremendous efforts organising the event. There are lots of photos posted on the club's social media (Check out @EcclesRFCPhotos on facebook)
Keith Tickle, father of Chris, has wirrten to offer his thanks and appreaciton to all at the club.
