Congratulations to Luke Fleming, who passed out at HMS Raleigh (Plymouth) in December.  Luke is now stationed in Portsmouth for 6 months at the Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School at HMS Sultan. His 4 year apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering will see him specialise in rotor wing (helicopters) and he's destined initially for service on Aircraft Carriers.

Luke started in the Eccles RFC U7s with George Glover and James Bushby as coaches in 2011. As an U14, he toured with them to France, playing and scoring in a tournament in Belgium - Not many Eccles players can claim an international try!  Earlier this season Luke played for the Eccles U18 Senior Colts on the wing, before departing for Royal Navy training.

Apparently he had his Eccles RFC pin badge with him throughout. Luke is on the far right in this image taken at his PO parade. His boots were never that shiny on a rugby pitch but wearing those Navy and White hoops have prepared him well.
Everyone at the club is proud of your achievement Luke (in particular your father, former club Captain Paul Fleming) and we wish you the very best of luck with your career at Sea.
