It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of former Eccles player Colin Leigh, who passed away on Friday evening , 8th June, at Royal Bolton Hospital.
After joining the club in November 1970, Colin "Leapy" Leigh would soon become a regular 1XV second row forward, known for his line out jumping ability. Featuring in many of the Griffon Plaque winning teams of the period he would often travel to away matches on his motorbike and alongside Jeoff Crompton and Steve Dore, was one of a number of fine Eccles players who worked at nearby Gardners Engineering. Colin continued his 1XV career until the 1989/90 season.  Colin continued his 1XV career until the 1989/90 season and last attended the player's reunion lunch in September 2023.

Colin will be fondly remembered by many and the club extends its sincere condolences to his family and friends.
