Congratulations to Eccles U16 players M. Houghton, M. Gardiner, L. Strand, J. Costello, H. Peacock, S. Dixon and C. Quigley who were all selected to represent Lancashire U16s vs Cheshire at Liverpool St Helens RFC on Sunday. Eccles team mate J. Edwards was also in the Lancashire squad but unable to participate due to a broken hand.

Houghton, Gardiner, Strand and Costello played in the first game in which Gardiner was a try scorer in a 17-15 victory for Lancashire. Peacock, Dixon and Quigley were selected for the second game which was a tough match on a heavy pitch which ended as a 0-12 win for Cheshire. Both contests featured great attacking running and fearless tackling from all the Eccles lads.

The eight Homegrown Eccles players were selected from the Sale Sharks North West DPP programme following assessment trials. The Eccles U16s are developing into a capable team with 12 wins from 16 competitive fixtures so far this season and we’re looking forward to watching their progress as Colts next season and hopefully, increasing the Lancashire caps within the squad. - CG.
