The club is sad to announce that Defence Coach Andrew Selby will step down from his role this summer due to unforeseen personal circumstances.
Andrew joined Eccles RFC in January 2022, arriving with a fine pedigree, including a playing career with England U18s, Midlands, Mosely, Northampton and Worcester and coaching experience with Dudley Kingwinsford, Halifax Vandals and Kirby Lonsdale. Selby has made a big contribution to the recent success of our men's section and although we are disapointed to see him depart, we wish all the very best with his next chapter.
Speaking about his departure Selby had this to say
"The club has become a major part of my life. I have loved being involved with a community club in its truest sense. To see the development over the past two and half seasons has been remarkable. In that time the success throughout the club has been remarkable and it speaks volumes for everyone involved.
Thank you for making me as welcome as you have done and I will always be proud to have been part of Eccles. I genuinely believe that the club can do some amazing things. Good luck and play hard on and off the pitch."
Director of Rugby Sam Simpson added
"It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to an incredible human being who quickly cemented himself as an integral part of our coaching & leadership group. Selby has supported the club’s growth and success over the past two and a half seasons and in that time we’ve had back to back Lancashire plate wins, back to back promotions, doubled our men's rugby section growing from two to four teams and all four teams earning promotion in one season!. We wish him all the very best in his next endeavours and he will always be very welcome back at Gorton Street."
