Congratulations to our 1XV men who were crowned champions of the Counites 2 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire Division following the 19-41 victory at Liverpool Collegiate on 2nd April. Promotion to Counites 1 (Level 7) was secured with a campaign of 18 wins from 22 games. The Trophy was presented on the pitch to our Captain Mr Tom Coe by Mr Dave Clarke of the Lancashire RFU.
The Eccles First Team then turned their attention to the cup, defeating Tyldesley in the Semi Final of Lancashire Plate on 8th April, and a month later on 8th May defeating Littleborough 36-22 in the Final to retain the Lancashire Plate trophy to achieve a League and Cup Double, the first time in the club's history.
All in all, with the 3XV also achieving a championship title promotion and cup double in the North West Intermediate leagues and the 2XV challenging to the end, Eccles Mens rugby enjoyed a very successful siverware winning 2022/23 season.
Preparations for the new season begin tonight.
Mens training recomences 20th June 6.45pm and continues Tuesdays and Thursdays through the summer. Eccles will be fielding four teams in the 2023/24 season plus a vets team. All players (new and old) are welcome.
