Eccles RFC are pleased to confirm the appointment of Fin Cox as 1st XV Captain for the 2023/24 season.
A homegrown product of the Eccles Mini and Junior Rugby section and former pupil of St Ambrose Barlow RC High School Swinton, Fin joined the club aged 5 years old and, having played at every age grade, he went on to co-captain his colts team and win the Junior Colts player’s player award in 2017. Following his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award expedition to France, Fin made his Eccles senior debut in preseason friendlies away at Glossop and at home against the Royal Regiment Of Fusiliers in August 2017.
As member of the 2022 Lancashire Plate winning squad and a front row regular in the 2023 promotion and plate-winning first team Fin never took a backward step.
We wish him the best of luck in leading the players on and off the pitch this coming season.

Commenting on his appointment Fin had this to say "Eccles RFC has been a massive part of my life since I can remember. To be appointed first team captain I consider to be a huge honour and privilege. It’s been my goal to get my name on the captain's board so I thank the club for putting their trust in me. The quality of player at Eccles at the moment is the best I’ve seen since I started playing open age rugby and the talented young and new players we have coming into the men’s section this year gives me confidence that we can have another successful season. Eccles is a really exciting place to be at the moment with the club enjoying growth in all sections. I can’t wait to see where this can take us."
