It is with great sadness that the club has to announce the passing of Noel Stack a former player and club member. Noel joined the club in 1972 and played for 5 seasons leaving in 1977 to work in Cork, Ireland. He played in one of the successful Griffin Plaque winning teams of that era. Never a flamboyant character, for some reason Noel took to wearing a headband until someone pointed out that it did nothing to improve his game.

In the photo above, published in the Eccles Journal on 2nd March, 1977, Noel is front row, second from the right, next to our hirsute and youthul President Alan Bent.

Noel was a quietly spoken gentleman who played our great game with fairness and skill. Rest in peace Noel from all at ERFC.

Funeral details to follow.
