Congratulations to Dan Aspinall (U8s) on achieving his England Rugby Coaches Award.
Dan was last season's silverwear-winning Colts Captain and was invited to coach the U8s at the begining this season when began his studies at University of Central Lancashire. Dan actually began his coaching at Eccles RFC aged 15, assisting the U18 Girls coaching team, and had this to say about his experience -
"I was involved coaching the U18 Grils for three years and enjoyed coaching a talented age group and developing my coaching skills . I also helped coach rugby to the junior children at my old primary school for a couple of years. When I became the u8s coach at Eccles RFC at the start of this season I felt ready to work toward the level 2 qualificiation. I attended the England Coaching Award at Bury Grammar school over 3 days on separate weekends in February & March .
I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions as it gave a different outlook on coaching methods and new ideas that I could incorporate into my coaching at whatever age group.
I've found the course very beneficial. Not only do you develop a network of coaching contacts at different clubs, you collaborate with coaches who have expereience of different age groups and can get advice and help from those who have experienced your age group before. Overall, it was a good experience and I recommend it to anyone who wants to further their coaching knowledge, skills and confidence."
Eccles RFC will support anyone who wishes to take a coaching or refereeing course and will reimburse your costs on qualification.
