It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr Ted Nicholls, peacefully at Hope Hospital last Saturday 26 February, aged 89 years old.

Ex-player, expert Groundsman, leading fossil, role model, gentleman and friend to many, Ted is an Eccles legend who regarded everyone at the club as part of his extended family, and it won’t be the same without him. Club members came together to raise a glass in his honour this weekend and Ted’s family are overwhelmed by the messages of support and words of sentiment.

The Funeral service will take place on Tuesday 15th March, 11am, at Peel Green Crematorium, then back to the Club for something to eat and a drink or two. The Nicholls family have expressed thier appreciation of all the kind words and thoughts shared with them during this difficult time and have requested no flowers. Any charitable donations in memory of Ted can be made on the day via a donation box at the Crematorium, the proceeds of which will be split between the 55th Company, Manchester Boys Brigade and the Eccles RFC Minis and Junior Section.
